Why split the stock?

The street is doing a pretty good job of it today.

p.s.s. Shorted it Tuesday @ $124 and covered @ 121 due to earnings date.

I didn't say this. What I did say was that there are research firms that can be hired to do the research to get the numbers. I doubt if there are any research firms that have the numbers at hand though. Of course this would only be relevant for site traffic. The more important data is revenue - which would not require any research on the part of Amazon - it would just require them to break out their numbers.
