Uncle Frank, as I said:

I do not know the exact mechanics behind the buying requirements of Index Funds when new stocks are added to an Index --- if someone could clarify this point for the Group it would be greatly appreciated

...so I appreciate you clarifying the issue for me(us). I have never bought shares in an Index Fund so I have no experience with passively run Funds.

Uncle Frank, OT Do you know when QCOM gets added to the S and P 500 index. I know they made their announcement but don't know when it becomes official. Did you hear of the date?

BTW---i had unloaded it for now --average selling price of 157. I still can't believe it went up the day (164 or os)the Nas was down 98---also the day i sold(could have been the day before).
Looking to add it back again as soon as i cover my short on
the other q----QQQ.
