Does anyone know if this is review time for the employees at MSFT as far as stock options are concern ?

The reviews are done. The results (including the option grants) are revealed in July, if I remember correctly.

Bill,

This is called "managing earnings expectations", and MSFT has employed this technique wisely -- much to the shareholders' benefits in the long run.

In fact, MSFT and its CFO have never deviated from this practice in the last 10 years since I owned this stock.

Relax and enjoy the long term gains,

Ibexx

< Thread ---Does anyone know if this is review time for the employees at

why the company is talking down the stock ---does not make sense since
the pipeline seems to be full with Office 2000 , Windows 2000 in the
fall . I am use to mutual or hedge funds manipulating a particular stock
but not the company . Just asking a question ---something does not seem
right>

Bill--I listened to the earnings release conference call. I believe MSFT said that in the past the employee stock option price was fixed at the lowest price during the entire month of July and that this had been changed so that now the option price is set at the stock's price on July 31th. This made me suspicious (in light of the very conservative forecast) that MSFT employees might like to see the stock hit bottom on July 31.
