fumble, regarding IXC Comm:

"Gemini2000: The First Network of Its Kind

At the official Gemini2000 network announcement December 14 in New York City, IXC Chairman and
Chief Executive Officer Benjamin Scott said the new network "rips the lid off capacity barriers and
paves the way for unconstrained development of applications."

The Gemini2000 network combines advanced technology from industry leaders Cisco Systems, Nortel
Networks, and Newbridge Networks. Cisco provided the majority of routers for the network, including
the GSR 12000 series of gigabit routers
. Nortel supplied Layer 1 optronics equipment, including the
OC-48 and optical interface cards. The ATM/Frame Relay access switches that pass traffic to the
network are from Newbridge."

Although I do not for sure where is there problem, we all know about
chaos in networks created by routers.
There are very limited numbers of networks which have routers in the core and ATM switches
on the edge, and some of them are having constant problems.
However, those with core ATM and edge ATM are running very well.
May be core routers are not up to the task yet.
