<<wished somebody had asked how much of the wealth that is moving this economy is the result of capital gains from trustfund welfare recipients and financial types and others who feel the wealth effect from stock options and from retirement funds..>>

I think that kind of stats is very hard to estimate. But I think that wealth contribute not as much as the consumer debt contribute to the economy. I might be wrong. What is the new figure? I read from another of you post about "1% people hold 40% wealth in the US"? Rich is getting richer, indeed. The other day I was looking at if one invested $10,000 in S&P500 index in 1950 and hold it till may, 1999, will have $66+ million. Amazing.

<<I think there is growing antiamerican sentiment and the average
american is just another hardworking stressed out member of the planet >>

I agree. Talk about anti-American sentiment, I was reading a book review, and found this paragraph.

A book which exaggerates only one side of the story
A Hollywood movie type of book full of superficial evidences and self-fulfilling arguments. The writers are indeed experienced journalists who well understand that sensationalism sells. In terms of misleading people, Western "free" media do the job as well as communist propaganda machines. This book has further deepened the misunderstanding between the people of the two nations. By the way, have Americans ever thought about how many other nations in the world view the USA as the major threat to their security and cultures?
