i don't know about Amex, but certainly ETrade at 7.4 billion market cap looks almost ridiculously cheap by internet standards to me.
(you know, "investors" are paying 14 billion for Priceline, and who knows how many billions for KOOP, ETYS, and shit like that)
if this weakness continues, not too much time will pass before a big fish gobbles it up.
in any case, i thank all the nervous nellies for providing me every now and then with such terrific buying opportunities.
some people just don't want the GOLD they are being offered and they throw it down the toilet.

only a PURE online bank will be able to offer the kind of CD interest rates ETrade/Telebanc is offering.
the benefits of a pure online model here cannot be understated.
and if you have everything integrated in one place, as ETrade is planning, well, it's just too great.

i think ETrade will eventually be gobbled up,
Etrade is a good fit for American Express. but now if
they plan to start their own online bank, i am skeptical
it might happen.
