Ibexx, My take on the H&Q report.

This is what I think about H&Q's report: They don't have a clue.

1) The Thin Phones will sell fantastically.
2) CDMA chipsets are tough to make. Q makes the best chips and will have the most advanced versions available. To assume that other players will gain major market % share Q is very questionable.
3) CDMA growth continues to be underestimated.
4) GSM dominance is over estimated. There is a lot of greenfields out there.
5) Phone replacements are underestimated. I'll bet a very high percentage of folks with Sony phones or the QCP 2700 will upgrade to the dual mode Thin 2760.
6) Q consistently under estimates its growth. Tony Thornley said specifically to use .86 per quarter going forward. Conservatively, that's 3.44 for FY 2000, not 2.70. Although at 38 x that's still only $130. However, 38 times is the average multiple, and Q is #1, and significantly above the average by at least a standard deviation.
7) Q is thinking 5-10 years out, H&Q is not. These guys recommended ericy right? ‘nough said. They listen to the GSM camps which are "living in there own little world."
8) LISTEN TO THE TECHNOLOGY.

BWDIK,
