I have had more people die than (I would guess) most people on this thread- and I bet I've planned more funerals too. One does not do the world a service (imo) by gnashing the teeth, or even being overly respectful of the dead. A certain lightness of being can make things bearable. You may wish to be solemn and circumspect- but it does not make people inhuman or insensitive to make jokes about a dead famous person. I think no one here would make these jokes to Caroline Ks face- for example.
