WHAT'S GOING ON?

This is your last chance to make your voice heard on Open Access in San Francisco!

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors is poised to make a choice
whether to provide equal access to high-speed cable lines for all Internet service providers. At stake: competition, consumer choice, and the future of independent ISP's in the Bay Area.

On July 26, the Board of Supervisors will meet to decide upon a resolution that would allow competing ISPs to buy access to high speed cable networks.

If approved, the resolution will prevent companies like AT&T/TCI from monopolizing all of the cable lines currently owned by TCI for high speed Internet access.

This language will allow the dozens of ISPs to continue to do business in San Francisco and ensure consumer choice of ISPs in the high-speed Internet services market.

Supporters of Open Access on the Board of Supervisors need your help to convince their colleagues to protect consumers choice, support the Bay Area's thriving Internet economy and stand up to corporate monopolies until 2005 when the franchise AT&T has with the City expires.

Please take a moment to contact the Supervisors listed below. Urge them to protect consumer choice and competition in the broadband marketplace!

This is your LAST chance to make a difference.

WHAT SHOULD I SAY?

Urge the Mayor and the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to support the open access resolution at the July 26th hearing to ensure consumer choice of ISPs in the high-speed Internet services market. If you are tongue-tied, try stressing the following points:

* AT&T and TCI must not be permitted to monopolize the high-speed Internet service market in San Francisco.

* Open, non-discriminatory access is vital to preserving competition diversity and consumer choice online.

* All citizens should be able to obtain affordable, high-speed access to the Internet from the provider of their choice.
