william, have you heard of the demand curve? increase demand by lowering price, all else being equal? ever heard of advertising? it stimulates demand.

questions. if demand for amzn products is so great...

1. why do they advertise out of the ying yang?
2. why do they sell at prices so low that they lose millions every q?

my answer is that this is a PURE market share GRAB. since demand isn't strong enough to support a viable business while accomplishing this GRAB, they advertise like h*ll and sell below market.

even so, growth rates are slowing tremendously - granted, from high levels (of both rev growth and losses - losses are still growing).

why not price items to make a profit and advertise responsibly? i would argue they can't - there business would go nowhere. and they KNOW it. so they DON'T do it.

they give you what they can (rev growth and BIG losses) and hope you don't ever increase your low expectations ;-)

Not to nitpick, but I thought "organic growth" referred to growth funded by retained earnings ... which needless to say Amazon don't have.
