I was not that impressed with Cappellas. He was CIO and COO for a period where CPQ was failing in execution and performance. Is he completely without blame?

I also think that Rosen was just plain tired. Let's face it, he is not the dynamo he was many years ago. Stepping into a position like he did must take a lot out of a person, emotionaly and physically. Since his first "outside" choices did not take his offer, I think he fell back on PLAN B (Cappellas).

Cappellas' first test will be this 15 Aug announcement he mentioned. It sounds like they are going to trim their product line. I always thought CPQ offered too many different items, that, looked like each other. Otherwise, anything short of a clear, rational and executable plan will cause CPQ to continue to flounder.

<<Is it me or is watching akin to watching paint dry? He does not seem like a dynamo which is good for us.>>
I agree. However, he might be a good business man. The removal of uncertainty will probably give COMPAQ a temporary boost in stock price.

What are the chances they'll still hire someone to be his boss at CPQ?
