The same timing has always been with us. If you remember the real tragedy when the space shuttle blew up, the jokes were flowing before the bodies were recovered and were just as tasteless. Back then it was word of mouth, no internet to help the spread.

I hate to disagree with Ish, you know that I do, and I know that I am a bit of a goody- two- shoes, but inevitability is not a blanket justification. I agree that timing made it worse, and I appreciate some forms of gallows humor, but it depends on what one thinks is being conveyed. If it seems to suggest that the deaths are no big deal, and that the people are dreck, I doubt there is a statute of limitations....
