william...re: " moratorium on insider sales "

so you are departing from the "party line" that management's only obligation is to grow the company and the stock will follow?

stock will languish until management makes it clear what direction dell is going forward with....if it is pure pc, selling used computers, giving away internet access...then the stock is fairly valued..........if it is something that will separate it from the pack...the stock will move..

but what do i know...how can you question an icon like "mikey"....after all his wealth was obtained not directly from the operational profits of the company, but from the bidding up of the stock price by the dell loyalists over the years......the stock appreciation, as any stock is purely attained by the fervor of the shareholders.....

you hold one hell of a lot of dell...why not sell out of the money calls, get tremendous cash flow....aug 50 you can scalp for a 1/4...doubt the stock will run short term unless the company speaks to the market..

what will the nashville plant manufacture? what market are the acer computers targeted for? anybody know....????

good luck my friend...you have the fiduciary responsibility as a shareholder to question....take care..ed a.

I think that the majority of insider sales are options related, and I have made my position on that abomination abundantly clear!

The principal constraint on DELL at this point is that there is no public information on what business, if any, Dell will pursue to reignite hypergrowth. In spite all of the hoopla on this thread about auctions and e-commerce I think that the street remains unconvinced -- and rightly so. Why should a company with projected growth of about 30- 35% per annum (which isn't chopped liver!) grow it's share price by 50% or more per annum?

Dell has the best sales/assembly model in the business world today. It needs to find a way to migrate that model to new businesses. Once the street sees that, DELL will once again resume rapid share price appreciation.
