I don't want to spoil your party Mighty. But consider if all that stuff that LU, NT. Siemens, ERICY sold this last couple of years was driven by the Y2K thing. Network Operators segment raking in cash real big. Software upgrades for the transit and for the local exchanges.

Now, approaching the changing of the millenium, their customers say; "Freeze, dude! Do not touch my switches, we are bracing for the Y2K thing to pass."

Then comes the next year and then there is no Y2K thing to prop the business. I think this effect should be taken into consideration, Mighty.

YOU WROTE - "Im a lurker now. LU definitely doesnt need my rah rah. It's a friggin' MACHINE!!! Holding LU for 10 years, never seen or held such a powerhouse. McGinn's gonna make us FILTHY rich! This is my MSFT, I finally got one! LU in the next ten years will be bigger than the IBM of the last 50 years, no doubt about it. They make boxes, chips, have leading edge R&D, and have sales and service support out the wazzoo, which is what really made IBM big. What LU has that IBM lacks is killer software. IBM has pockets of good software (DB2) but is mostly mediocre. LU's networking and billing software is STRONG and in high demand."

I'm a retired LUCENT, AT&T Microelectronic, Western Electric employee (35 years with them) and long, still holding AT&T, Bell Atlantic and Bell South as well as lots of LU.

What this company really needs is a few "good" friends on the Street and at CNBC. The talking heads at CNBC never miss saying things that put the spotlight on LU in a negative way whenever they can. Wish they'd mention LU in a good light as many times as they mention their parent company....the mighty GE.

Joe Favor (sic) seems quite upset since it seems that LUCENT doesn't apparently invite him to their meetings or make him privy on their conference calls.

LUCENT can put out all the PR they want which is almost something everyday. They can beat the Street and somebody always seems to get the bully pulpit to say something nasty.

You can fill a 12 x 12 room with enough ping pong balls or golf balls to fill up the room enough to cover the floor six inches....then take one black ball and put it in the middle of the room on that top layer and what do you think everyone seems to l““k at immediately...they see that dam black ball....so I say "Out dam spot!"
