Surely some shares would have had to be spun off to shareholders.
This hope is what drove the stock to 51 in the first place and sent it reeling 60% after MoronPAq dashed it.
CMGI shares owned by Compaq become "hidden" shares and don't help the stock (CPQ) nearly as much as owning CMGI outright. I've seen this time and time again. You take CPQ and I'll take CMGI and we'll check back in a few months.
Didn't Microsoft just shove off some of it's net holdings as a tradable stock? I wonder haw that's doing? <G>
