Luc, one has to wonder if Japan has not an agenda all it's own...their treasury bond holdings are vast and they may just be pissed off enough at Larry Summers to send a reminder as to who's holding the mortgage. when Hashimoto was still in office he uttered thinly veiled threats on a visit to the U.S. in '97 that referred to Japan's U.S.investments. the market tanked immediately. who knows, they may feel it is time to change the direction of international investment flows more drastically since all other attempts to resuscitate the Japanese economy seem to have failed miserably. or perhaps they don't want to go to oblivion alone...
