Neocon,

<<People rarely want to kill or maim, but they love watching
good guys beat bad guys... >>

True. But ask youself this, if within your drama, three guys are violently murdered and there is one scene of sexual intimacy, which scene will cause the majority of parents in the audience to squirm? I realize there is no answer to this, it is jut your opinion, but I am curious as to your answer.

<< I do think that it offended a number of groups on religious grounds, and that they have economic power....>

I agree to a point. However, murder is against the ten commandments, sexual intimacy is not(in most cases)although there is grounds for Literalists to believe that homosexual encounters are a sin. Why does the sex bother them more than acts of murder? Which is the greter sin in the eyes of God, wanton murder or a sexual encounter?

<<but it is not the job of the schools to distribute condoms over the express wishes of parents....>>

Again I agree. However, my comment was that given the choice between the two, I would pick condoms.
