The operations shortfall was small, less than $.02/sh. I don't think all the assets from the past investments are best used to buy ALSC shares. There are other, more promising, companies to reinvest in, but ALSC is not dead either. Personally I would liquidate about 50% of the BRCM and UMC shares when they become available and let the remainder continue to grow in value as investments. But what do I know, I'm still holding...
