The quarter ends a week from today and I suspect the stock will send strong messages by the end of next week.

PAt, unfortunately, the stock has been sending bad messages this whole week. Any opinion on why this is so? Thanks.

<I agree with you both. Making the quarter is a make-or-break situation for management. <

Pat, it will be interesting to see how this quarter plays out. I assume that management is in touch with reality enough to realize that any sort of shortfall against the minimal expectations that exist is the end of the road for this crew. They will have no credibility or good will with the market, this will tank the stock, demoralize employees, etc. They are history if they can't make these Lilliputian numbers.

For this reason I think it highly unlikely that they will miss expectations(though, in some ways I wish they would since I think it would lead to the sale of the company within six months). The more likely scenario is that they will make the numbers or even exceed them slightly and then everyone will be left guessing how they did this. Is it really a sign of them gaining some control over their operations, or did they simply drain stuff from the coming quarter to make it. Sorting this out will be interesting.

Of course, there is always the outside chance that they will significantly exceed expectations...ain't holding my breath on that one, though.
