The Xeon is intended for transaction processing, not doing FFTs

Won't that just move the bottleneck to the memory subsystem instead of the bus? P2P or shared bus, the memory bandwidth is still the limitation. The K7 advantage would be in bandwidth not architecture, IMHO.
