Eric,
I think it was massive short coverings this afternoon. You know that there were a lot of shorters from earlier in the week that were holding for the earnings reports. Also, Massive shorting at open yesterday (including myself). I think there was a small short squeeze this afternoon. A large jump from 105 to 109 in about 1/2 hour.
I personally covered earlier in the day. Almost all heavily daytraded net stocks run up friday afternoon from 2pm on.

I do not trade AMZN much due to the fact that the stock is manipulated so much. The MM's created a selling panic yesterday so that they could buy up some cheap shares. Now they are selling them back to you at a premium. We all know how this works. It will be interesting too see how monday pans out. Do the MM's gap it up and try to continue the short squeeze or do the short come out again and drive it down further? Either way, I will not trade them until the pattern is re-established. Long or short.

My first rule of short term trading on AMZN... Never Ever hold a position over the weekend.

I still think AMZN we be sub 90 before the split. I may jump back on the short bus (lol) if we get another good run up next week.

M
