Perhaps! Another problem is that NT only supports directX version 2. Does anyone know if WIN2000 brings all these things together i.e. SMP, directx etc.

Yes! RC1 supports DirectX 7. If you're running Win2000 run "dxdiag" and it'll show you what's installed.
