Re: "Maybe a lot of people decided to take profits. Or maybe some people were spooked by the possibility of an irresponsible tax cut that might jeopardize the country's ability to pay down the national debt or even result in the elimination of the surplus. Or maybe some people decided to sell because of fear of eventual Y2K dislocations. And then again, some people may have decided to sell because it's July."

It does seem logical but I find it highly improbable that with all the reasons mentioned above not one indicates the likelihood that a lot of people sold due to the bond selling (raising rates over 6%) as a result of Mr. Greenspan's hostile jawboning Thursday?

The man is going to raise interest rates no matter what it cost the American people. That is why he is stepping out of his republican shoes and criticizing his party for lowering taxes now. His logic as stated by him is wait til the economy crashes then stimulate by lower taxes. Obviously he has already planned to bring this 9 year bull down. But the republicans can not wait because they do not want to put surplus cash in Clinton's hands which he will spend for his causes.

Am not selling unless I get a real good price for some Aug 60's
(hehe)
Morning Chuzz. Hope you are all well. It takes us some time to recover from a trip to Austin. So many ideas-so little time. Granola and Freeus had to stay over with you know who.
But all is well now, yesterday was first day of 100 degree T, one local case of heat stroke, the coyotes are back howling after months of silence. Seems like old times.
I have only one complaint about Dell stock, being I am afraid to spend any of the profits since it varies so much. I am not going to
settle for the concept that Dell is now limited by size from growing in excess of 30 or 40 %/year.
Adding 50% to the work force in Ireland, adding 500 to the 300
in Italy. Already 500 in Tennessee with another 5K to 8k to come.
Next Brazil.
Dell procures its workers from a manpower provider in Ireland who
also trains them before Dell hires. 3 to 6 months probation at Dell, then if fit, they become Dell employees. Now a similar hiring project
in the US. Just can't get enough workers.......
Business must be picking up (haha)
Opinion. This may not be popular comment, but I am purposely avoiding Aol stock. Their basic concept, sign up everyone and send out a monthly bill, has worked so far to build volume. You can fool all of the people some of the time. But now the free ISP is coming and I assume Aol will have to make more money from advertising. So the changes they will have to go thru are more threatening than declining ASP's are to Dell. Dell seems a less risky investment.
Regards
Sig

Nonsense! The Fed is hostile and that is the main reason why stocks have been sold off.
