Picture of Ericsson R290 G* phone
For those of you who have not seen the phone yet, it's quite attractive.

From your post: " Ericsson expects to launch the R290 series in limited quantities at the end of 1999 and in volume in the beginning of 2000."

This is truly horrifying news.

If Ericsson plans repeat plans to have limited quantities AT THE END OF 1999, when will the phones be available for users in fact? No way are such plans or targets ever met - and certainly not by Ericy based upon their track record of phone introduction and especially in the midst of the current management disarray and widespread firing..

This is a disaster for G.

Hope that Italia or whatever the name of the other company making GSM/G* phones will have a few available before Sept launch.

Looks like launch will be without phones in peoples hands.

While the Q can provide CDMA/analog/G* phones, and hopefully in time for the Sept launch, where GSM is the only game in town, they are not likely to be used.

Comments anyone? Hope I am too pessimistic here.
