<rotary phone> what is that? Aren't those museum pieces now? Think I saw one in l982 or was it l962? :) Actually gotta use da finga to dial? How inconvenient in this time of super-convenience on all fronts! My fingas would object to such unexpected toil, after so many years of tap-tap laziness!

Had a shock last week- your post was quite timely- after another in a series of power outages, being unable to use the phone for very vital business (yes, i still do work-sometimes) and other calls (as usual) as well as something to do out of boredom, finally got that some phones still do not require power cord! Only tele line cable!

Damn, all those many hours- many times being without not knowing this!

Radio shack had a bunch of them-

Now I'm ready for y2k-- ha-ha, ugh.....

p.s. no way to know if these outages were from y2k testing or not...

ok, now if the lites go out i can call anyone- however in 6 months, i can still call anyone, but it will be only pretend calls!

be just like when we were kids, playing with the toy phones, playing like we were calling friends or a store....

BUT, THIS TIME, NO PRETEND! DEADLY SERIOUS! PHONE, NO TONE, NO 911, AND, MAYBE not much else to do day upon non-electric day, but do pretend calls!
