tktom ..

But, as not to make the banking community any more P.O.ed, they may be taking the low road here...

They need to steal a page from Intel's marketing department ..
"Powered by Checkfree" somewhere on all their partner's web
pages .. should be part of the negotiating process .. doesn't
even need to be a live 'link' .. good way to get some
'mind share' .. wouldn't hurt the stock price either ..

The head of AMEX's net banking division himself said, of course we will be competing with the banks, like we already do in our credit card versus their Visa and MasterCards. Thus, I know its both OK to offer products in competition with them banks but also to talk about it on TV, let alone to offer services to possible competitors to banks and then issue an innocuous little-read press release.
The pussyfooting and kowtowing to banks has done little for CKFR so far and would only serve to delay most epay until well after next April, due to the Y2K freeze.
If brokerage firms, portals and financial service orgs. want to push ahead while the banks are asleep, that is their business. Checkfree has every right to move its own business along and even brag about it. Anything less smacks of more sloth and obsequiousness. You go, girl.
