Well, I personally don't like the articles that tell me that I may get hit by a nuclear missile, but I would rather have the information available to me and be able to choose what not to read.

I think it's great that you and others are willing to post so much information of substance to this board while I'm mostly babbling about lampshades and such, and I know that you won't take it personally if I choose not to read some of it <g>.

Doomsday Avoided

by Peter de Jager

SNIP:
"We've finally broken the back of the Y2K problem." I've been making that statement now for about 6 months. Naturally, it has generated some interest and a handful of e-mail. The comments range from polite requests for me to state, in my own words, what exactly I mean by 'broken the back of Y2K' to the outraged rants from folks intent on selling the world panic, gold coins and plots of otherwise worthless real estate. Naturally, any good news about Y2K spoils the fun and intentions of those trying to incite panic and runs on the bank.

ground breaking Doomsday 2000 article, published in Computerworld Sept. 6th 1993. He has also co-authored the book "Managing 00" with Richard Bergeon. The book was recently reprinted under the new title "Countdown Y2k" and is available through John Wiley & Sons.
