Casaubon: Well, it is interesting that even Investors Business Daily would note distribution days, since that would imply manipulation!

I do know, that several "I get paid for my stuff" analyst, have said that a shift has/is taking place in the "inuts", from day traders (momentum players) to more stable hands (longer-term investors). Several have stated they expect many of the major “nutz” to go back up in price. We'll see…<g>

When IBD, Barrrons or other "they get printed on paper" publications get around to publishing, their content is usually old news. If you are a long-term investor they may be of so some use.

Always remember, the "big boyz" know how to motivate small investors to do what they want, when they want. It is done with price movement or lack of, trust me. If you see an issue's price resting while incurring heavy volume this can be a sign of either distribution or accumulation by the "big boyz", depending on previous price action.

The other technique is to move price dramatically or across physiological areas either up or down. Down would allow them to cover short positions and or accumulate inventory. Up allows them to sell inventory and or sell short to supply demand.

The ability to recognize these ploys is gained by keeping an eye out for these manipulations and once you spot one, watching the results. Then over time you will begin to acquire an intuitive ability to recognize them more easily and then you will be prepared to take advantage of these manipulations.

LG
