Maybe they are delaying Celeron sales instead.

k-whatever,

I doubt if PIII is of the quantity magnitude yet to be affected here. The newest baby gets the most attention.

The key to me is the Intel statement that it's a nice to have problem. I guess I can understand your take, though, because an AMDolt wouldn't know a nice-to-have problem if it hit him between the eyes.

We're acknowledging a shortage of BX and
ZX parts, and we're working quickly to meet
that [demand],? said a spokesman for Intel,
Santa Clara, Calif. ?It's a case where demand
for the product continues to be extremely
strong. It's a good problem.

Also, the price delta is meaningless, it's the signal of a big demand pickup that is the good news for Intel.

Jealous.

I've been lurking here for probably a year and a half or longer. Always stayed out of the squabbles that this thread seems to delight in. But this time I'm going to put in my 2 cents worth.
It's not that Intel is has production problems and produces less of the chip sets. They can't meet demand and are increasing the output. That's good for business. On top of that, the price goes up by 25% without increase in cost. To me that sounds like good news again and I'm glad I picked up some more shares on this latest dip.
