<None of them sound apocalyptic>They would if you were directly affected, e.g, contamined or no water for a few days could = death.
Some of the others will cause death- they will only be apocalyptic to those that are seriously harmed or die.

What did you think about the apocalyptic senarios described by a number of the other experts?

Did you notice that the mean pred number of all those experts was, I believe, about a 6.7 on the 1-10 scale? How serious do you think a 6.7 outcome would/will be locally or nationally?

p.s. would you be so accepting of Kelly's senarios if you discovered he flew one of the black helicopters? <g>

Technologyguy,

Well I'm not trying to imply that more extreme scenarios are out of the question, but only that here is someone who claims to be an experienced programmer/systems guy, and this is what he is predicting.

Y2K is all mental when we get down to it. The future is always nothing more than a figment of our imagination, a prediction based upon the best facts we have available. And reality seldom bears out predictions derived from fear-based analysis.

Even with those facts in hand (which none really with Y2K), we are the ones who command our response to those facts. Will we panic? Will we ignore the potential for disruption?? Should we disrupt our lives in preparation for an inevitable IT apocalyse?

Some has scoffed at my only storing a months worth of food (or maybe 2 months tops). My reasoning is that living here in DC, if the nation's capital can't get its act together within a month, I and the Mrs. are outta here. Thus there is no rationale for storing food I won't use or be able to take with me. And as for water, I clearly stated that our ability to filter water if far more imporant than merely storing it (unless you're living in the desert). There's plenty of water available, if you have the means to purify it.

Regards,

Ron
