If I interpret what you are saying correctly, by adding a parallel port to my Mac (which has only serial ports as standard equipment), I can use a parallel card reader with no further modifications. I'll look into that, but the real problem, I fear, is that my system is simply too outdated to accommodate all the features of modern day peripherals. Obviously, there are some features of newer operating systems that are worth having, apart from compatibility with newer peripherals.
