I'm not sure if I'm worried or not about limited availability of Ericsson's G* handset in 1999. It seems to me that all depends on which regions are part of the initial rollout later this year.

One region I remember that has been mentioned for the initial rollout is Mexico. This is probably a CDMA market, no? If all the rollout markets are CDMA then the question of Ericsson handsets in '99 is less important.

Also, keep in mind that in addition to handsets, there will be pay phones and fixed phones. Anyone know if these other types of phones will be part of the initial rollout?

Before I make up my mind about the importance of Ericsson I'd need to know more about which regions and which phones for the rollout.
