It's really getting crazy out there. Another person I know, can't afford to fully pay their weekly food bill out of free available cash, so they charge about one third of it every week at 14.9%, even though they have enough equity in the market to pay for about three year's worth of food! It's unbelievable, and more importantly, unsustainable to boot. Yogi

Deef, I use my credit cards for everything as I get 2% rebate at the end of the year. But I don't run a balance and I don't think most users could say that. One place I don't use it is the ice cream parlor as I don't want mine melting while I sign some ticket. <g>

Defrocked, FWIW My husband and I use our credit card for every purchase that we can. We would have used it in the situation you describe. We receive a rebate on every purchase, and pay our bill in full each month. While the money sits in checking waiting to pay the bill, it earns 4.25% apy. The rebate gives us a return on the money we would have spent anyway. Yes, it's only several hundred dollars a year extra, but I can't figure a reason to use cash or a checkcard when given the above benefits.

Def,

We use our credit cards for just about everything. Now, our credit cards act like a check when they hit our accounts. But, we have not used a credit card at the DQ for cones, yet. <ggg>
