<<bashing Jeff about how he handled the conference call>>

I was also disappointed with the cc. When your sequential quarterly sales growth is minimal despite expanding into new product areas, it is inappropriate to start the call with self-indulgent reminiscences of the first four years of your internet sales. What a waste of time.

Cramer is right on.

Well, I for one don't care for the 2 Amzn calls I have heard. They are too long and full of fluff. The entire first portion where they went over the amazon "timeline" incl. mentioning when amazon was labeled amazon.toast (by whoever), to me was a waste of time.

In the preliminary portion of the call I would have liked to have heard from Gatti, and some definitive future plans. For example will they be adding more stores to amzn or doing the VC investment thing... they glossed over the purchase of gear.com... why did they invest there since sporting goods and toys are similar, why not just open a section of the toy dept to sports? etc. etc.

When they don't want to give a definitive answer due to competitive concerns, they should say so in a straightforward manner. Example, q: "you say auctions are growing most rapidly why do you think that".. a: "month/month numbers". This was a flippant, I can't answer response. They know they are going to get these questions... they should prepare for them and answer with more thoughtfulness.

Finally the darned things are just too long.

~end of rant!~

More importantly, did Bezos chase away long term investors with his
cavalier attitude ? Thanks for your comments.

There appears to be agreement the CC was handled poorly. The "shocked and gratified" comment is being quoted as much as irrationa exuberance.

The real problem as I see it is management does not release enough information to the public. One can argue that would be giving away trade secrets but I do not believe that to be true.

I have never been a true fan of Jeff Bezos althoug Amazon now has garnered some very talented people. That being siad, I am long. It is time that Bezos let's the public( who has financed this firm for a long time) know what is really going on.
