EVERYTHING is debatable Mark-O. (That's why we have lawyers.) Problem is whether its worth debating. Seems to me pretty self evident that a lower murder rate indicates a country with more respect for human life, ergo better morality. JLA

mark, in this case I am not speaking of Biblical morality and have probably used the wrong words to convey what I mean. What I am speaking of is that the concept of right and wrong, the respect of fellow citizens, the respect for law and order, and a sense of getting along with others must begin and be nurtured in the home. Then it should receive reenforcement in the schools.
In all too many cases, it appears that parents are depending on others to do their job in raising their children. With a good foundation, I believe, children are more likely to grow up into responsible adults and will, therefore, reduce violence and disregard for human life. TD
