So everybody still gets to have individual Microsoft-taxed copies of the exact same program bits permanently resident (I guess on their little slice of persistent network storage), everybody gets to apply patches separately to their different copies of the same bits so patches get applied 500 million times, etc.?

Of course, if the answer to my question is no, then you're talking about a thin client and this thread is moot.
