"Barry Jinks, has decided to step down at the end of July to allow a
new CEO to take the company to its next level of development."
I spoke to Barry after the "news"
Barry has specific strengths and interests. His strenghts IMO are first being a genuine person, sincere, dilligent and visionary and a tremendous loyalty to his beliefs and ability to create a working environment that promoted creativity. I want to publically thank him for all his years at SSY/SSPI. He is a class guy and I know he will continue on a new path with the same energy and dedication that he brought to Spectrum. In our discussions he talked about his skill sets. Suffice it to say that he the company needed someone with a different set of skills that he brought to Spectrum. A brief review of his accomplishments and a chat with any of his managers or engineers will testify to his ability to grow a company develop a great working environment.

The board, for those who follow the company, has taken on a new face with many new members and the addition of Ken Spencer.
The key questions for me are: How committed to the company are the other key employees and managers to Spectrum? Will there be any significant exodus of talent? Does BJ's move affect any of the current contracts including the C govt. grant?
The answers I got and believe is that Barry and the company had reached a decision that was a tough one for him and all involved. He felt the company was in a tremendous point in its growth but that future growth would require someone with a different skill set than he brought to the table. None of the employees has plans to leave and that none of the ins/wins or grant monies was dependent on his remaining as CEO.
Barry has gotten Spectrum to where they are now. The Company needs a CEO with a different set of skills. Change is difficult but it is an integral part of life and growth. I remain confident in the future of Spectrum. Spectrum now needs a CEO that can take the assets of the company and grow them to the next level.
