Hi Larry - since you and I understand our positions - or, maybe I should say I understand our respective positions <VBG> - there is not a whole lot more new substance, from my perspective, I can inject into the discussion without boring rest of the the forum participants to tear, so I will leave it at that. I posted the NewsHour links b/c I am a big fan of the programme balanced reporting. That's all.

Finally, to digress a little, funny you have mentioned Canada, I ve always argued, factitiously of course <G>, that we should make Canada, sans Quebec, the 51st state and leave Quebec to deal with the fact that a part of Hydro Quebec is sitting on the native indian soil - and the native indians seem to be more interested in sticking with the federal government <VBG>.

best, Bosco

So, you think that Lincoln was wrong to force the southern ("Confederate") states to remain in the Union in 1861? Or that it would be OK if, say, the good folks who inhabit the northern parts of Alaska wished to establish their own nation, they should be allowed to? Or those folks who believe that Texas ought to be an independent country are reasonable, and should be given their piece of land to do this, and be outside US jurisdiction (not to mention any number of other people in places like Montana, Idaho, Oregon, and other parts of the US west?
