IRF and Semiconductor stocks.

Those of you who have read this thread for a while know that I was very bullish on semiconductor stocks last summer and into the October low. We had the worst bear market in the history of the SOX last year and the index was entering what should have been a positive cycle. I posted a lot of SOX data on this thread between July and October 98 for those who want to review the empirical data. I'm starting to get cautious on the SOX because the rally from the Oct 98 low to the high this month nailed the typical rally in the SOX.

I think the SOX could rally in the short term, but I think it's unlikely that it will get through its July high at 533.43. It might be a good idea to start buying 9 to 12 month puts on the SOX over the next month or so, especially on rallies. I'd also start looking at some individual semiconductor stocks for shorting opportunities.

I posted some more comments about the SOX on the IRF thread if anyone is interested.

Have a great week everyone. I'll be out of town on a business trip.
