Vpelt,JDN, Karl and others...
Scanning through the TAVA remnants I came upon this link so I thought I would say hello and pass along my opinions and then an exciting recommendation.

As to the Y2k impact, although little mentioned, the reports at the GAO, Bob Bennett's website, and the OMB as well as the CIA all point to a rather substantial overseas impact for y2K. Look for a partial slowing of these next two quarters due to stockpiling which has occurred the first two quarters and then look for the potential of significant deflationary moves in the Far East, Russia, China and Latin America in the first six to nine months of 2000.

Safe but profitable (35-45% return) during these times would be Zero Coupon Bonds(Am Century-Benham 2025), a steal at these prices today and a sure bet as we see lower interest rates as a stimulus for deflationary pressure next year.(If inflation were truly the enemy would the Fed Reserve be printing more and more money and placing it into circulation? hardly.)

Options strategies would be LEAPS Dec 2000 for the S and P. Excellent profit returns if one chooses the 120 or 125 LEAPS(big payday if S and P falls to 1200 or below).

Lastly, a recommendation for a huge natural gas play, in the East Lost Hills deep well projects, a joint venture of Canadian drillers and oil companies and a Colorado based(yep, another one!!!) Seismic data company called PYR Energy(BBOTC: PYRX) Recommended in Barron's last week, First Boston just bought 400000 shares of the major player Berkely Petroleum in Canada. Estimated reserves...3 to 12 Trillion cubic feet of gas. This is a real thing ladies and gentlemen and huge upside potentials to be made. Here on SI the discussion is on the KOB thread..https://www.siliconinvestor.com/subject.aspx?subjectid=10357.

More information can be gleaned from Eland Jennings website..http://www.elandjennings.com/
Scroll down to research reports for more details. I know Tech stocks are the favorites here, but in the past year I have been well educated in the oil and gas field, natural gas prices are skyrocketing, the blowout that happened last November has been described by the Boots and Coots oil well experts as the largest in North America or the world in many years. Good luck with this one. Let me know if you need any other links...

One more link re the above is a Yahoo chart of share prices and news releases on the play quote.yahoo.com
as well as the local newspaper link in Bakersfield California....http://www.bakersfield.com/sp3/. News is here and check out the opinion forum. Good luck all, and nice to see everyone together again. Stephen
PS.. Humbly missing your wit and wisdom, Josef.
