OT

Jim: I am a long time follower of your wise and accurate posts.
Noticed your OT on politics, and just wanted to commend you
on your brillant instincts on the market and politics.
I describe myself as a middle of the road extremist. And
could not agree with you more on the surplus/debt issue.
The GOP pols are doing nothing more than bribing voters with
their tax cut orthodoxy. It will not work.

Pay down the debt or I'll be working until I'll well into my Viagra years <g> Even if I do figure out how to milk a few bucks from this old cash bull.

Good post, Jim. Unfortunately, the politicos have been playing different variations of these con games forever. The sad news is that so few people wake up to them- -never enough to make a difference.

Unfortunately, your time line missed the presidential announcement that precipitated the whole tax cut-spending tug of war between the Republicans and the Democrats...

cnn.com

Clinton proposed to raid the Social Security fund to fund Medicare which is bankrupt and which supposedly has its own 'trust fund'. When Medicare would use up these new source of funds and then some, another battle over nationalization of health care would be inevitable.
