"If you believe the internet is going to change the world then it is interesting to think about a world where people respond to manipulation of paid media." Finally someone said it! IMO, over the years the paid media has prevented many excellent products and companies from reaching their potential. The so called technical magazines and writers have held back technology by thwarting superior companies like Grid, Banyan, MDBS, Metafile, Digital Research, etc, etc. These companies all had superior products which never reached the mainstram because the media promoted the companies that paid for lines of positive press and bashed their competitors. It will be interesting to see what the power of the Internet and the energy of grass roots people can do about the situation.
