JP -- This is a interesting product-demonstration report I got off of the Stockhouse Montello thread: ----- I visited the Montello offices at the end of last week and saw a demonstration of the net-locate device. I was impressed. A quick summary: Main parameters include: map height, altitude, icon-label, refresh-frequency, time, heading, speed, date. The interface is clear and easy-to-understand. Presently there is complete and seamless North American map coverage - that said, AVL and Montello are upgrading the site's map-system, purchasing and controlling their own set. The apparatus is a bit larger than a pack of cigarettes - it has a tiny antenna that can be hidden anywhere on the vehicle. It plugs into a cigarette lighter or it can also run on batteries. The device can be hardwired into the engine and other components of the vehicle, to give read-outs on gas-use, door-openings, oil-pressure, and so forth. The device can also provide automatic email notifications to oneself and the company server regarding impact detection. (As of last week, the internet interface for these particular functions was not yet up on net-locate; I was told they'll be up at or near the time of the website's launching in a few weeks.) Montello president Pat Powers, who was demonstrating the product to some brokers last week, says it takes about a minute and a half to set up. Powers told me, "The product works like a hot-damn. We are at the very beginning of promotion. There will be a number of online demonstrations starting in a few weeks. Investors will be invited to call and schedule a demonstration for themselves." As I said, I was impressed by the demonstration, and I was heartened to see that the marketing effort was starting to kick off. ----- It seems to be a pretty busy thread over there -- you can check it out at stockhouse.com . Cheers.
