I know what you mean. I happily voted Mondale in 84, and voted Dukakis in 88. Almost voted for Ron Paul instead, but force of habit held sway. I recall feeling a little unclean leaving the voting booth. Voted Andre Marrou in 92. I knew that I didn't like the Democrats anymore, but it took awhile to feel comfortable to even say "I might vote Republican." I happily vote Republican now.
