pompsanders, not so much the demographics, but the demographics of worldwide consumer societies. IMO, the driving engines of the bull markets are the developing markets that add consumers to the pool. The recent maelsrtom in Asia and Russia might have slowed this process a little, but within five years these economies should once more generate a more than normal growth in consumers. I have been holding (barely) a "thesis" of a market bound above and below (it used to be 5000 to 10000 on the Dow, and now it has changed to 6000 to 12500 or so <got to be "flexible?>) for a period of five to seven years and then once more going into a period of very rapid growth.
