Joan,

"The end of the world as we know it" right?

OT:: Here's a guy I was not familar with until this morning, A.J. Nock,

wrote "Our Enemy The State", which I have heard of, never read, has a web site, which I haven't looked for yet.. He is the one that said,

"Taking the State wherever found, striking into it's history at any point, one sees no way to differentiate the activities of its founders, administators, and beneficiaries from those of a professional criminal class."

I have concluded for a long time that people that have strived throughout their lives to become politico/leaders have nothing but their own agenda, whatever that may be, in mind.. This is manifested now by anyone that spends huge amounts to buy an election..

Of course, this precludes people which an office was thrust upon them by popular request.. Like my brother who was "forced" to become mayor of a town of 500.. ha ha. .He quit after the first term because he got tired of the bitching by Mrs. Jones, wondering why her driveway was not plowed and Mrs. Robinson's was.... Well, you and I know why.....

"Heres to you, Mrs Robinson"... Coug

Speaking of the end of the world as we know it, did you see the articles in the Food Section of the Wednesday Washington Post about stockpiling food, water and such, just in case? One article explained how to buy propane stoves, and such, the tone was "well, you could always use it for camping." The other article was written by a woman who was brought up Mormon, they believe in stockpiling enough food, water and energy for the family for a year. Chris and I were talking about whether we should stockpile stuff, and how much, and he thinks it's not a bad idea. Just in case. Just buy a little extra every time we go to Price Club, and put it in the basement, I guess.

My thought is that, based on what I know about computers, if "it" or anything like it is going to happen, it won't all happen at once. No clock keeps perfect time, except the atomic clock. Some are early, some are late.
