DRBES,

Re: GOOOOOLLY!

Good Gomer Pyle.

I was going to congratulate Craig for his well thought out post, but didn't feel like a flame on a Sunday (yet), as it was on the AMD thread. What he said is pretty much right on. As long as the gorilla stays on the ball and delivers product that's better than, equal to or close to what the monkeys have (Geoffrey Moore, "Gorilla Game" book terminology), the overwhelming majority of customers will stay with them, or go back to them, if they stray. IBM lost the lead in mainframe performance several times, but they always grab back all but about 20% of the market. I suspect Intel will do the same. Of course, the gorilla needs to stay on top of customer service, distribution, ah, what the hell, I'll even through in RAS, or they can get in trouble.

So, excellent post, Craig.

Tony
