Mike:

Yeah, it was about 3 years after the Depression's onset, when FDR came into power...but so what? He merely amplified on ineffectual programs that Hoover had already started to implement.

His primary contribution, the public works projects, didn't really help the economy all that much (but was certainly of great financial and moral benefit to the recipients - as well as having provided benefits in our parks, etc., that we may still enjoy), IMHO.

It wasn't until the Lend/Lease stimulus that the economy started to pick up a little, and it didn't recover until we had full-employment via our entry into WWII (although some make a good argument for it not really to have ended until Post-War).

IMHO, FDR was the first President to fully understand the power of the media in politics. His "Fireside Chats" with the press, and Eleanor's unending public appearances at hospitals and other charitable events were political strokes of genius.

Mike,
How do you keep track of all the financial statements you study. Are you just real good or extremely determined. Are you looking for a quick rebound from the recent selling or more down? Hard to make a move with no trends. I can't day trade or really keep tabs on things at work so rapid changes could hurt. Hell, slow changes can hurt if you freeze or guess wrong. Did you see the rest of the Foxtrot series on day trading. Pretty accurate depiction of the ups and downs.
