Evicted Prostitutes Dislike New Home: Nasty & DSGumby Disgusted

Bramladesh, Ontario (Rooters) - Hundreds of young prostitutes evicted
from a Bramladesh brothel and moved to a heavily guarded vagrants center
said Tuesday they wanted freedom and to return to their profession.

Peeping through a metal gate, one group of the young women begged to be
released from the sprawling center at Kashimpur, 25 miles from Dhaka.

"Take us out of this prison," one shouted at journalists outside. "We like our
way of earning a living. They are just stripping us of that right." Nasty Nathanc then threw another tantrum.

Social welfare officials said 235 women were arrested Saturday at Tanbazar,
a 111-year-old brothel in Narayanganj town, 12 miles from the capital and
moved to "safe custody" in the Kashimpur Vagrants Center.

Housed with more than 300 beggers and young criminals detained under a
government reform program, the Tanbazar girls have been staging a noisy
protest since their arrival.

"They don't have any problem of food. They are being given everything a
normal human being needs. But they are not happy," police officer Ahpu Bapu said.

"They need sex, money, cigarettes, drugs and TBird," another officer said.

About 3,500 prostitutes lived in the Tanbazar red-light district before
authorities, under pressure from social and religious groups, decided earlier
this month to evict them.

Officials said the authorities had allocated $4.00 for a program to
rehabilitate the women through vocational training and financial support.
