The fact that there may be more oil buried beneath the earth does not mean that it is advisable to actually dig it out and burn it. Of course, being a rape-the-earth proponent, if it is there and it can increase your wealth or create convenience, you will use it.

I was not talking about playing it safe by worrying about running out of fossil fuels, I was was referring to the fact that pouring more and more CO2 into the atmosphere may not be safer than the risks associated with using nuclear power.

500 years more of burning oil products? How much more CO2 into the atmosphere does that represent?
